# Fatehpur Sikhri
Built in 1570 by Mughal emperor Akbar, Fatehpur Sikhri is a tribute to Sufi Saint. Built with extensive use of Red Stone, Fatehpur Sikhri is a perfect representation of Islamic, Indian and Persian architecture. For 10 years, it was the capital of Mughal Empire. It features a 6-Kilometer wall on three of its sides which are filled with many towers and gates. It consists of some of iconic buildings like Birbal’s House, Jama Masjid, Panch Mahal and Buland Darwaza. Entire city of Fatehpur Sikhri was declared as the World Heritage Site in 1986.
It is the first mosque in India to be made from marble. Until the time Itmad-Ud-Daulah was constructed, structures were made with the use of Red Stone. Tomb of Itmad-Ud-Daulah is also called as baby Taj or Jewel Box as it looks like a tiny version of Taj Mahal. This mosque represents a new era in the Mughal Architecture.
